Sitka, Alaska Entrepreneur with Multi-Faceted Background
Richard Forst is a multi-faceted Alaska entrepreneur who guides whale watching and marine wildlife viewing excursions with Sitka Sound Tours. Also an experienced home builder, Richard Forst has created custom homes for clients in rugged and remote environments, and he manages a number of vacation properties.
With a private pilot’s license and a single-engine land and sea and instrument rating, Mr. Forst flies both recreationally and to otherwise inaccessible sites he works on as master builder. His accomplishments in off-the-grid construction were showcased across a dozen episodes of DYI Building Alaska Season 2015. He and his reality TV team members raced to complete a uniquely designed lodge before unforgiving winter conditions hit.
Mr. Forst’s background includes maritime law enforcement work with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) sea patrol. He holds qualifications as a specialty rescue diver and emergency medical technician, and he has been a fire fighter. Richard Forst has also been involved in whale rescue efforts in his local area.
